Gaining a Cert IV in Disability Support will allow you the opportunity for employment in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, and jobs that provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. This qualification will help assist you to promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
Duration
2 days a week for 12 months
Working/ a placement in the industry is a required due to the practical application/assessments as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the Units of Competency.

Prerequisites
Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set
We also suggest:
- Basic computer skills
- A reasonable level of fitness to carry our manual handling and first aid
- Ideally experience in the community services sector already
- Ability to work unsupervised in your scope of practice

Completion Requirements
During your study you will be required to provide Atwea/work placement the following evidence:
- A National Police Check
- A NDIS Worker Check (if applicable)
- Vaccinations which may include COVID (if applicable)
- A Working with Children Check (if applicable)
- Any other evidence your work placement provider requires

Pathway
These units may be used as credit transfers on successful completion to complete other qualifications in the community services training package
