Flamenco Guitar Music and Culture - Introduction

This course is an introduction to Flamenco music and culture. Learn from ARIA-nominated Flamenco guitarist Damian Wright the rhythms, forms, history and cultural context, and techniques of this incredible and unique art form. 

Learn

  • Rhythms: Flamenco is a very rhythmic art-form. Students will be introduced to flamencos exotic rhythmic cycles and their practical applications. 
  • History: Learn about the extraordinary history of flamenco which covers a vast array of geography and cultures. 
  • Cultural Context: Look at how flamenco is more than a musical style and is an integral part of the lifestyle and identity of a people. 
  • Techniques: Explore the unique techniques required to make the unmistakable flamenco sound on the guitar as well as the palmas or rhythmic handclaps

2 hours per week  for 4 weeks 

Fees

Course enrolment must be accompanied by a fee; we are unable to hold places for people or accept deposits on Lifestyle courses. Once enrolment is completed students will receive a course confirmation either in writing or by email. This course confirmation constitutes a receipt.

Parking fees may apply at some venues.

All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
