Introduction to Outrigger Canoeing

This is an enclosed waters paddle. After basic instruction, and safety procedures you will experience a tryout on a 2 person outrigger (OC2) providing one on one instruction and also in a 6 person Outrigger Canoe (OC6).

To complete instruction & familiarisation you will enjoy a 90 minute paddle in Throsby Creek and on the Newcastle Harbour waters: experience and enjoy a new view of the Foreshore.
This activity is delivered by experienced Outrigger paddlers and the length of the session is suited to those with little experience or limited time.

Meet at the canoe storage area - the single container opposite the Newcastle Rowing Club at 34 Tully Street, Carrington

Fees

Course enrolment must be accompanied by a fee; we are unable to hold places for people or accept deposits on Lifestyle courses. Once enrolment is completed students will receive a course confirmation either in writing or by email. This course confirmation constitutes a receipt.

Parking fees may apply at some venues.

Confirmation

Please check your confirmation letter to ensure you have the correct time, date and location of your course as well as any necessary requirements. There is a room directory located at each venue directing you to your classroom.

Bring with you

• Drinking water
• Aqua footwear (old joggers ok)
• Clothes you can swim in and a change of dry clothing
• Sunscreen / Cap
• Sunglasses on a lanyard
• Cold weather - Warm clothing eg thermal top

Safety

Please note: If you are not able to swim/dog paddle more than 50m and tread water for 5 minutes in your paddling clothes you MUST wear a life jacket (supplied).
